Deuteronomy 6:5-7 says “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children.” In Matthew 19:14-15 Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” At New Life we believe it is important to have a ministry that teaches our young children what it means to love God and love others. We want to impress on them biblical teaching in way they understand, as well as give them loving encouragement from godly adult leaders. Aside from Summer Camp, there are a number of children’s ministries that we offer to help us educate the children in our church. Our regularly ongoing ministries include:
Nursery
Every Sunday morning during the entirety of the 10am morning service, we provide adult supervised care for children ranging in age from new-born to 5 year olds. However, if a parent or child does not yet feel comfortable utilizing the nursery, there are rooms with glass walls adjacent to our sanctuary. These sound proof rooms allow a person to both see the worship service and hear through speakers, while tending to the needs of a child.
Children’s Church
Every Sunday, during the worship service, when the pastor begins his sermon, children from 5 years old to 5th grade are dismissed to Children’s Church. There, they receive a Bible-based lesson that is taught with that age group in mind. This ministry not only provides age appropriate lessons for children on Sunday mornings, and it also provides the opportunity for parents to be able to give their full attention to the message during that time. On the first Sunday of every month when we participate in communion, and on special occasions, there is no children’s church.
Vacation Bible School
At some point each summer New Life plans a one week Vacation Bible School program. The program will start on a Monday and meet daily through Friday and for children ages 5 through 12. Vacation Bible School will usually last about 2 hours each day and will consist of the following: age appropriate Bible lessons; snacks; games; music and singing; and some skits.
